Automotive Marketing - Cars: Buying versus Leasing

When it comes to automotive marketing, perhaps the name Brian Ongaro rings a bell. Brian Ongaro is a man who joined the Boardwalk Auto Group and eventually contributed innovative marketing experience to the company. Just like its founder, Scott Ginsburg, Brian Ongaro gained more experience in broadcast media. In fact, he was appointed as the market manager and executive vice president of AMFM, Inc. in 1997 and the executive vice president of CBS Radio in 2002. After twenty-eight years in the broadcast media industry, he was able to bring organization management knowledge and skills to Boardwalk Auto Group.

Today, you can be part of an automotive marketing team. You just have to be like Ongaro and possess the skills that he has. Also, you should be knowledgeable on the various brands of cars including Ferrari, Porsche, Volkswagen, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Audi.

In addition, you should be able to reach a wide range of audiences so you can introduce different automobile models, as well as provide information to them. You can make use of social networking sites, print ads, and direct mail amongst other marketing methods.

Moreover, you should know the pros and cons of leasing and buying a car. If you really plan to take on automotive marketing, you should be able to provide answers to your customers regarding this matter. As you know, leasing and buying have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages. See to it that you guide your customers well. Otherwise, they will no longer believe in you and you may fail in your profession. The economy is not doing so well at the moment, so it is really important to make the most of the available budget.

For some people, owning a car is better than having to lease it. This is especially true for people who live far away from their workplace or whose jobs require that they travel a lot. On the other hand, some people may be better off leasing a car than buying one. These people are usually the ones who work at home or live near their workplace. Walking, taking a cab, or taking a bus to work may also be more ideal for some people since paying fare is cheaper than paying for gas. Again, the pros and cons of each option depend on the needs and lifestyle of the person.

When you buy a car, you will have to make several payments but the car will be yours. The greatest benefit of buying a car is that you will get to own the car and be free to sell it any time you want. The insurance limits on your policy will be lower compared to when you lease. You will also be free to rack up the mileage without any restrictions or penalties. However, you should realize that the monthly payments for buying a car are higher than for leasing one. You may also need to place a down payment; this could make initial out-of-pocket costs higher.

When you lease a car, you will also need to make payments but the car will not be yours unless you purchase it for its depreciated value. There are lower out-of-pocket costs and little or even no down payment at all, and the monthly payments are lower. However, your ownership of the car is limited.

Automotive Marketing: Boardwalk Maserati

The green revolution is catching up on the automobile industry with car companies making fuel consumption a requirement in designing their new car models. Maserati is going green with the redesigned Maserati Quattropole installing downsized a V6 and V8 engines with a stop-start technology that will reduce fuel consumption by as much as 15 percent, a first for a four door luxury car. Boardwalk Auto Group one of the largest luxury car dealerships in the Texas area has the Maserati Quattropole in their Boardwalk Maserati showrooms. Brian Ongaro, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Boardwalk Auto Group and their team of sales and technical professionals will give you the information you need about the Maserati brand.

Maserati is the family name of a group of Italian brothers who built and drove winning race cars in the beginning of the 20th century.

The Maserati brothers first worked with the Diatto Company. They developed and raced winning race cars for the Diatto Company. When Diatto decided to stop production of their race cars in the 1920s the Maserati brothers decided to produce their own race cars. In 1926 the first Maserati race car was built and it won the Targa Florio race. This started a long and illustrious tradition of building winning race cars under the Maserati name. It was at this time the emblem of the company, the Trident, was designed by one of the Maserati brothers and it has been the company’s logo ever since.

The brothers continued to build and drive winning race cars from the 1920s to the 1940s building a very good reputation for the brothers and Maserati in the car racing industry. This is why even when they sold their shares to the Orsi Family in the 1930s, the Maserati brothers continued to be involved in the production of Maserati cars. Until the war intervened Maserati was a leader in the race car circuit. After the war, they started building race cars again developing trailblazing race car technology that saw numerous victories for the Maserati team in many racing events. This was cut short when tragedy struck during the 1957 Mille Miglia race, an event that forced Maserati to stop producing race cars altogether.

This started the development of Maserati road cars which produced the 6 cylinder 3500 2+2 coupé, the V8 powered 5000, the Sebring, the Mistral coupé, the Spider, and the company’s first four door, the Quattroporte. Maserati saw a slump after having been acquired by Citroen and then by Alessandro de Tomaso. It was not until Fiat came into the picture in 1993 that Maserati experienced a surge in its production of well-designed, fast, powerful luxury cars. With Fiat it was able to produce the 3200 GT, a two door coupé whose engine can make the car go from 0 to 60mph in 5.5 seconds, re-introducing Maserati’s tradition for speed in the luxury car industry. In 1997, its arch-rival Ferrari bought 50 percent of the Maserati shares from Fiat and in 1999 completely owned the Maserati brand making it the Ferrari luxury brand. With a fresh infusion of Fiat and Ferrari technology, Maserati regained ground with the production of top sellers such as the MC12 road supersports, the GT racer which had an Enzo Ferrari chassis and engine under its hood, and the luxury saloon Quattroporte with V8 engine. Maserati has since been welcomed back in the States and is one of the most popular luxury car brands to date. They have also been seen in the racing circuit again with the Maserati Trofeo winning races keeping with the tradition of the Maserati name.

If you are a Maserati fan, Boardwalk Maserati is the showroom to visit. The staff of Maserati technicians and sales people are waiting to give advice and information on any sales or leasing question. Boardwalk Auto Group is one of the largest luxury car dealerships in the Texas area. Sales and Marketing is headed up by Mr. Brian Ongaro, Boardwalk’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Porsche is a German car company founded by Austrian Engineer Ferdinand Porsche, the man who also designed the iconic Volkswagen or ‘People’s car’ later on renamed ‘the Beetle’. This close relationship between Porsche and Volkswagen, they shared designers and engineers, explain some of the design similarities of the two car brands, such as the use of air-cooled rear mounted engines as well as the rounded shapes and compact design.

The similarities will end there because whereas the Beetle became identified as a laid back but stylish road car the Porsche became the most powerful brand in the racing car industry. A well respected brand in the motor sports world having earned some 28,000 victories in various racing competitions since the company started producing these sports cars. It continues to design and produce racing cars and is considered to be the largest race manufacturer in the world.

What is the right way to pronounce the name Porsche? This is an unusual trivia because a lot of people are not aware of the proper way to pronounce the name of the number one sports car in the world. In the United States and most English speaking countries it is acceptable to pronounce it as ‘porsh’. But the proper way to say it really is ‘porschwa’ because the German language does not have a silent ‘e’ and words ending with the letter ‘e’ are usually pronounced with an unaccented ‘schwa’.

Continuing its leadership role in the automotive industry Porsche is also in the forefront of developing hybrid technology, in collaboration with Japanese automaker Toyota. This collaboration resulted in the production of the Cayenne, the very first Hybrid sport utility vehicle, the Panamera, a four door hybrid vehicle and they have also managed to incorporate hybrid technology into their two-seater sports car 918 Spyder.

Audi AG has had a long and illustrious career in the luxury and race car world.

The very first Audi, the Audi Type A Sport Phaeton, was built in 1910 by August Horch & Co.

The story of how Audi got its name is an interesting one. August Horch, after striking up on his own, was barred by his former company to use his name in any of his automobiles. One night he invited a few of his friends to think of a name for his new car company. As they discussed, his son who was studying Latin in the room and listening to the conversation, interrupted his father and his friends to suggest the name ‘Audi’. He explained that since ‘Horch’ in German means ‘Hark’ or ‘to hear’ it would make sense to use the Latin interpretation ‘Audi’ which means ‘to listen’. They considered it a brilliant idea and adopted the name instantly.

August Horch continued to run his company until the 1920s when he decided to sell it to Jorgen Rasmussen, owner of the German car company Dampf-Kraft-Wagen (DKW). A decade after that, in 1932 Audi became part of the Auto Union. A group of four German car companies composed of Horch, DKW, Wanderer, and of course Audi. This is where the four rings, which eventually became the Audi badge, got developed to symbolize the four Auto Union companies. The first ring represents Audi, the second DKW, the third Horch, and the fourth Wanderer. Auto Union, however, used the four rings only on their race car models not their road car models. This is why Audi as a car brand remained unknown to car buyers until the 1970s. This is when Volkswagen bought 99 percent of the company and introduced the Audi brand to the United States with the Audi 100, the Audi 50, and the Audi 80.

A decade after that the very first Audi performance car and rally racing car was released to the market, the Audi Quattro. With its permanent all wheel drive it went on to win many rally races. Its success proved the viability of all-wheel drive race cars and established Audi as a dominant race car brand. The Audi Quattro’s performance in rally races elevated the Audi brand into a leader in automotive technology. After earning the admiration of the car industry with a succession of popular car designs Audi soon aimed to develop cars that can compete with fellow German luxury car brands Mercedes-Benz and BMW. This ambition bore the Audi V8, a prettier version of the Audi 100 fitted with a new engine. It was during this time Audi hit a rough patch and encountered consumer complaints about unintended acceleration on their cars. They have since fixed these problems and acquired better technology in the construction and development of their car models. They lead in the development of car body shells with the 100 percent galvanized car which prevents car corrosion. The full body zinc coating on Audi cars prevents rust and increases the durability of the cars by more than 12 years. Another car technology contributed by Audi is the use of aluminum space frame which was introduced by the Audi A8 which makes it the lightest all-wheel drive car in the luxury segment.

If you have had an Audi in your wish list for some time now then hurry and go to the Boardwalk Audi dealership to order and know more about the new Audi TT RS and other Audi car models you may want. Brian Ongaro, vice president for sales and marketing at Boardwalk Auto Group and the team at Boardwalk Audi are waiting to give you all the information you need to know everything you want to know about any Audi car model.

Brian Ongaro, VP of Sales and Marketing for Boardwalk Auto Group, talks more about the new Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid online. Volkswagen has gone a long way since the design and production of a ‘People’s Car’ or ‘Volkswagen’ in the 1930s. Before the war, only wealthy Germans could afford to buy a car and ordinary German citizens got by using bicycles. The German government considered this an opportunity to produce a car every ordinary German family can afford.

The government challenged private companies from the German auto making industry to design and produce a car worth not more than 990 Reischmark or 6 in 1930s dollars, and it should be able to fit two adults and three children. None of the private German car companies were able to build a car with the price tag the German government gave which forced the government to build their own factory and build the car on their own. They commissioned Austrian engineer Ferdinand Porsche, later on the owner of Porsche, to design the very first Beetle. World War II interrupted the commercial release of the car when it had to be retooled to become a war service vehicle. After the war, no one knew what to do with the Volkswagen some even considered the car ‘too ugly and too noisy’ and ‘not worth a damn’ but thanks to the efforts of British Army Major Ivan Hirst the Volkswagen survived and became a symbol of German recovery after the war.

In the 1950s, the car was a success in America largely in part to witty and memorable advertising created by the advertising firm Doyle, Dane Bernbach (DDB). It was first christened ‘The Beetle’ in a 1968 ad and the name caught on but was not recognized and adopted by the Volkswagen company until 1998 when it actually named its car ‘The New Beetle’.

As history will show ‘the Beetle’ lived up to its name as the ‘people’s car’ by becoming one of the most popular and iconic cars in the world. This world wide popularity allowed Volkswagen to become the one of the largest car companies that it is today. Volkswagen has since acquired and owns the biggest brands in the auto industry. Under the VW flagship are German carmaker Audi, British carmaker Bentley, the French brand Bugatti, Italian carmaker Lamborghini, and the Spanish concept carmaker SEAT. Volkswagen continues to be a leader in design and function in every category of the automobile industry.
